Government exempts 200 SMS per day limit

You heard it
right, The government of India has
planned to waive the 200 SMS per
day per SIM limit. All mobile
subscribers can now send unlimited
number of messages to any mobile
phone. Till now subscribers were to
send only 200 SMSes per day . As
this SMS limit gave birth to the
different new ways of sending SMS
through Internet making serious
security concerns TRAI now has
waived all the mobile phone users
from previous SMS limit.

TRAI has exempted machine-to-
machine and person-to-machine
messages from the limit of 200 SMS
per day per SIM.

Although the telecom regulator,
while issuing orders for exemption
such SMSes has clarified that the
mobile phones would be excluded
from the definition of “machine” and
such SMSes thus sent would not
require manual intervention, market
watchers said commercial SMS
senders may take advantage of the
situation.

There are signals that prices of
present SMS packs may fall down.
Currently Vodafone is giving 3000
free SMS for Rs 75, Same with Airtel.
While reliance has its similar SMS
pack for RC39.
